Facts about Climate: Photovoltaics
Wind, water, sun - nature offers us some energy sources that are practically inexhaustible. They can significantly contribute to climate protection. In addition to wind energy, photovoltaics is one of the most important renewable energies in Germany. Its expansion is a central pillar of the energy transition from fossil raw materials to climate-neutral, green energy.
For the city of the future it will be more and more important that entire buildings can supply themselves with power. Photovoltaics offers a promising approach for generating electricity from solar energy. With a new living laboratory, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin is researching how the entire facade can be used as a solar cell.
On our new fact sheet we give an overview of photovoltaics in Germany and present the new living laboratory in Berlin Adlershof in more detail.
