Prof. Dr.
Heidi Ursula Heinrichs
Prof. Dr. Heidi Ursula Heinrichs heads the newly founded department “Resource Strategies” within the Institute Jülich Systems Analysis at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany, based on her ERC Starting Grant MATERIALIZE and holds the Chair for Energy Systems Analysis at University of Siegen. Her department is primarily concerned with an energy transition that can be realized on the materials side, strategies to avoid material bottlenecks and generally robust supply chains.
She completed her doctorate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), for which she has received several awards, and studied Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, Germany. Her strong expertise in systems analysis gained over the past fifteen years covers the whole energy system with a current focus on material demands for the energy transition. She works and has worked in these fields at Jülich, Cambridge and Karlsruhe also in the context of various third-party funded projects and published numerous publications in scientific journals.
