10 years after the Paris Agreement: From commitment to action
As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement and just achieved the COP30 negotiations in Belém, this high-level event will bring together leading scientists, policymakers from France and Germany, and international climate experts to reflect on the progress achieved over the past decade in implementing the Agreement.
Building on the spirit of Paris, the discussion will explore how to accelerate collective ambitious action, strengthen international cooperation, identify high potential scientific solutions, and realign efforts to keep global warming within 1.5°C to ensure a safer, more resilient and sustainable future for all.
The event will open with a statement from Laurence TUBIANA, President and CEO of the European Climate Foundation, and Special Envoy for Europe for COP30.
The panel moderated by Melania GUERRA, Head of the Climate Science and Impacts team at Climate Analytics will gather:
- Laurence TUBIANA, President and CEO of the European Climate Foundation, and Special Envoy for Europe for COP30
- Jochen FLASBARTH, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety
- Prof. Dr. Mark LAWRENCE, Scientific Director of the Research Institute for Sustainability at Helmholtz Center for Geosciences
- Adenike OLADOSU, Fellow at the Research Institute for Sustainability at Helmholtz Center for Geosciences, ecofeminist and climate justice leader
- Ambassador James FLETCHER, Climate Envoy from the CARICOM (by video, tbc)
The discussion will be concluded by His Excellency Rodrigo DE LIMA BAENA SOARES, Ambassador of Brazil to Germany, who will outline the main outcomes of COP30.
